What you will expect

Unfortunately, Martinique did not escape the horrors of slavery and it shaped the history of the island in a deep and profound way. You can learn all about it at this restored village which traces the path of slavery on Martinique. Your children will walk around the two acre reconstructed slave village and see the hardships that slaves on the island endured while also learning about how their traditions still play an important role in the island's heritage today.
After the guided tour your children will learn to make the very special traditional cacao stick made out of real cacao and get special cacao drink…They will also enjoy a special coconut drink, eat sugar cane and all in all learn a lot about the traditional culinary art of Martinique.

What you need to know before you go

The village is open from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. every day of the week except for Sunday when they are closed in the afternoon.
Children age for the tour: Between 7 and 12 years old.
